MISSION STATEMENT
The primary mission of Allegheny County EMS Council is to establish, maintain and implement a coordinated and cooperative system of emergency medical services to provide efficient emergency medical care to residents and transients in distress within Allegheny County.
Secondary goals include bringing together both providers and consumers of EMS to constitute an active and informed body for the purpose of developing comprehensive policies which affect the provision of quality emergency medical services within the various municipalities of Allegheny County; setting and implementing common training standards for EMT’s and Paramedics, and in the use of hardware, ambulance configuration, radio equipment, hospital transfer patterns and helicopter systems; gathering and dissemination of information regarding emergency medical services to concerned residents of Allegheny County; and assisting in the preparation of grant and equipment requests to the State and other groups that monitor and develop EMT and Paramedic training programs and provide medical direction for the covered geographical area of Allegheny County.
