On behalf of the 30 plus emergency medical services in Allegheny County, let me extend a warm welcome to each of you. The Allegheny County EMS Council has a long history of developing emergency medical services in our county through a multi-disciplinary group comprised of EMS professionals, hospital management and support personnel, resource organizations and consumers. The Council has served the EMS community well for over 40 years and during this time we have worked hard to improve patient care and the pre-hospital delivery system. As with all aspects of healthcare, emergency medical services has undergone many challenges and changes since its' early days in the 1970s. EMTs and paramedics have become more advanced in their treatment regimen and as a result, there remains a stronger and ongoing need for education, human resource development, equipment and vehicles. Through many Council activities we have made a positive impact in the care that is delivered to your communities. I have been honored to be part of this organization for many years and grateful to serve as its organizational leader at this important time in our Council's history. The Council’s main goals include furthering EMS education, promoting growth in the industry, timely communication with EMS agencies and lobbying for legislative changes in the commonwealth. The Council welcomes involvement from individuals and organizations who wish to lend their expertise in furthering our mission. Ultimately, your involvement, be it emergency medical service, educator, healthcare professional, resource organization or consumer serves an important role in aiding residents and visitors of our County. I ask, is there a more noble cause? Again, welcome to our site and be sure to stop back often.
Sincerely, Keith A. Morse,
Chairman Allegheny County EMS Council
