The Allegheny County EMS Councils
mission is to provide the following:

Allegheny County Emergency Medical Services Council (ACEMS),
represents more than 60 licensed EMS Agencies; 20 healthcare
facilities; 16 medical command facilities; 2 medical
helicopter services; more than 5,000 Emergency Medical
Technicians, 3,000 EMT Paramedics; 1,000 Prehospital
Registered Nurses; and thousands of other allied health
providers participating in the delivery of out-of-hospital
care.
The ACEMS Council is a clearing house of ideas and issues
related to the delivery emergency medical services in
Allegheny County and Southwestern PA. Through the generous
gifts of organizations, the ACEMS Council has funded
education programs for the current and future Leaders of
EMS; continuing education programs for current EMS
Providers; EMS education scholarships named for Allen S.
Shattner, MD the founder of ALS in Allegheny County; and
much more.
