The Allegheny County EMS Councils mission is to provide the following:
 

Establish, maintain and implement a coordinated and cooperative system of emergency medical services and to provide efficient emergency medical care to residents and transients in distress with in Allegheny County. Bring together, through the creation of the Allegheny County Emergency Medical Services Council, both providers and consumers of emergency medical services to constitute and active and informed body for the purpose of developing comprehensive policies which affect the provision of quality emergency medical services within the various municipalities of Allegheny County Implementing common training standards for EMT’s and Paramedics, and in the use of hardware, ambulance configuration, radio equipment, hospital transfer patterns and helicopter systems
